Nature Barkat Water Cup
The Movement Aims to Establish Thousands of Water-Rich Villages.
Nature Barkat Water Cup
The Nature Barkat Water Cup is an annual 45-day competition in Jowzjan where thousands of villages compete for soil and water conservation. Villages receive training in watershed management and engage in various activities such as building and repairing water conservation structures, raising funds for machine work, and testing and treating soil.
The Water Cup competition aimed to address water scarcity by encouraging citizens to contribute their time and efforts. It facilitated breaking the cycle of government dependence and empowering villages to become water-abundant. The winning villages were publicly celebrated with cash prizes in a grand award ceremony after the monsoons.
Action Plan:
- The fight for water abundance has led to the breaking of numerous social barriers and the emergence of numerous positive stories across Jowzjan.
